I have created a new concept of learning the French language and culture in the open air, to promote well-being and the discovery of the language and culture in context!

Because learning a language is living it, we will get out of the traditional classrooms to enjoy the French experience!
In order to help you progress in French while respecting your objectives and tastes, we will first analyze your level and your needs.
My learning method is simple, clear and effective and will allow you to learn French quickly. It is for everyone, regardless of your nationality, age and level.

THE TEAM

NATHALIE BESSON

Founder of Français et Découverte and FLE teacher

I have been teaching French as a foreign language for over 25 years.
I have taught general and professional French in France (Lyon, Nice, Montpellier, Marseille, Salon-de-Provence and Aix-en-Provence) and abroad (United States, Mexico and Brazil) in universities, public and private schools, associations, companies, consulates and embassies, thanks to my diplomas in French, tourism and law.

I have a Master 1 in French as a Foreign Language, a Master 2 in Language Sciences, the DAMOCE (diploma of aptitude for the management of cultural and educational organizations) as well as a Master 1 in law and a BTS in tourism which allow me to effectively teach general and professional French.

I also opened my own French school, the "Institut de France" in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where I stayed for 8 years.

I taught in 20 schools, to thousands of students from all over the world… This allowed me to understand the learning mechanisms of each person and/or each nationality and to choose the most effective teaching methods for each one.

I have learned 6 foreign languages and speak them at different levels:
English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese and Korean.

Like you, I have experienced difficulties and I know how to put myself in your shoes! I have lived in 3 foreign countries: USA, Mexico and Brazil. Like you, I have traveled, moved and felt that mastering a language allows us to integrate!

I am also lucky enough to have an international family: French, Brazilian, English, Spanish and Argentinean and I realize that speaking foreign languages is a huge asset. In love with the south of France and more precisely with Provence, I settled in Aix-en- Provence where I teach with passion the French language and culture in an exceptional setting. Passionate about languages, travels, people, different cultures and my mother tongue, I am eager to meet you.

I have been teaching French as a foreign language for more than 15 years, first abroad in Brazil (4 years), then in the United States for 9 years (I worked for the Lycée
Français de San Francisco) and finally in France in Aix-en-Provence since the beginning of the school year 2021. I have traveled a lot since I was 18 years old and at
the same time I wanted to learn the language of the country (Portuguese/English/Spanish).

This allows me today to teach French while being aware of the difficulties, apprehensions, expectations and needs of each student.
I particularly enjoy sharing and exchanging about different cultures in this job.

  Nathalie is one of the best French teacher I've ever talked to. She is kind, attentive and highly motivated to teach. Long story short, I remember once she said 20+ the sentence " You are 33 years old", in French, because I had some problems to do it. I am glad now I can do a lot better and French language isn't a mystery any more. Nathalie is a great teacher is always willing to help no matter what time or moment of the day. If she is online she is ready for it. I would like to thank you very much for you classes. Your classes are funny and anxiety-free and frustration-free. That is why it is easy to get what you teach. Students get comfortable with a highly and humble professional like her.

  I had the pleasure of taking French lessons from Nathalie for about 8 - 9 months, and it was an excellent experience.  This was during the time of COVID restrictions in France, so we did most of our lessons by Zoom, even though we are in the same town.  I actually found the lessons more productive over Zoom because we used a shared Google doc live during the lessons that captured everything we went over and allowed me to refer back to it--like a virtual/real-time textbook that contained all our lessons, with answers to my specific questions, real-time corrections, etc.  If you are considering Zoom lessons with Nathalie--or live lessons--I can strongly endorse the value of doing lessons over Zoom for the added benefit of the live Google doc.

Overall, Nathalie is just an excellent teacher.  She's more than a French tutor--she has a deep understanding of the art and science of teaching/learning a foreign language.  She makes learning French (a quite difficult language, at least for me until I found her) easy and fun.  In a short time with Nathalie, I was very comfortable with my French in most any day-to-day situation.  More important, she helped me establish a foundation of understanding how the language works that I could build on through day-to-day experience.

Lessons with Nathalie are lots of fun, and she makes learning easy by mostly relying on conversation and gentle correction/teaching moments in real time (again. capturing all this is the huge advantage of Zoom lessons with the shared Google doc).  She is a really interesting person with lots of knowledge and experience to share.  We held hour-long sessions that seemed to just fly by because I just enjoyed talking with her.

Thanks to Nathalie, I am perfectly confident with my French in most any situation.  I certainly have more to learn and hope I can return to having lessons with her again soon.

  Nathalie made learning French fun and easy. I appreciate her style of teaching because she didn't just teach us certain expressions like how to order in a restaurant. We learned the real rules of the language so we could keep learning more and more over time.
